In small hydropower generation, turbines installed in streams or channels of water diverted from them generate power. There are many types of installations. Some harness the natural flow of rivers and agricultural water. Others tap into water supply and sewage systems, as well as piping in buildings and factories.

  • ･ There are no fuel costs. It is a highly efficient way to generate power since the operation can continue as long as a stream of water remains available.
  • ･ Unlike large and medium-sized hydropower plants that require large dams or reservoirs, small hydropower installations require only minimum modifications to the natural environment.
